An updated version of HSOconnect has been released.
This version integrates in to the Gnome Desktop menu system and fixes the known issues with Network scanning and Network name reporting.
Tested with Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 with drivers HSO 1.2, hsolinkcontrol version 1.1.46.
HSOconnect is a GUI connection manager for Option's HSDPA and HSUPA modems.
Using Python and the Python-GTK widget library this connection manager is very portable to any Linux distribution using Python 2.4 and higher.
HSOconnect features:
+ Multiple language support,
+ Multiple GUI and connection profiles.
+ User editable connection profiles
+ Automatic and Manual network selection
+ PIN dialog
+ Application launch buttons
As an example of it's capabilities HSOconnect is provided with a bad French translation and several GUI configurations.
This article is written on my trusty Compaq nw8240 running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). The Internet connection is provided by the Icon225 with HSOconnect as the connection manager.
