This is a HOW-TO showing every step I took to install the HSO driver and HSOconnect on a new Ubuntu 8.04 32-bit system.
This Howto uses links in to my forum to download specific files but you should always check that you are using the latest version of files if you run in to problems.

This update follows quickly after 1.1.81 due to a bit of poor quality control in the PHARscape software sweat shop.
This version is significant in that I provide separate Debian and RPM packages for HSOconnect based on the different Python versions (2.4 and 2.5).
It no longer has hsolink as a dependency. This allows much more flexibility for those who have to compile hsolinkcontrol separately.

I have just succeeded in getting everything working under Fedora 9 so I have created a How-to to help others.
The principles are the same for any distribution using using RPMs so it should be generally useful I hope.

I have produced an update to my HSOconnect program based on user feedback. I have added the following features: - Transfer Limit Warning
- Customisable Connection Timeout
- Roaming Warning
- Connection Log
- Transfer Total
- Customisable Quick Switch buttons for sending commands to the modem.
- A preferences dialog for configuring program settings

An updated version of HSOconnect has been released.
This version integrates in to the Gnome Desktop menu system and fixes the known issues with Network scanning and Network name reporting.
Tested with Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 with drivers HSO 1.2, hsolinkcontrol version 1.1.46.
