|
|
After a long delay here are the generic 32-bit 2.1 drivers for the 'nozomi' cards. The update includes several (hopefully) significant stability improvements (from Andrew Bird) with input from several other forum members.
* Version 2.1
* 03-July-2006 Paul Hardwick
*
* - Stability Improvements. Incorporated spinlock wraps patch.
* - Updated for newer 2.6.14+ kernels (tty_buffer_request_room)
* - using __devexit macro for tty
*
For 2.6 kernel users there is now a 'make install' option to place the drivers in the hotplug directory.
Please try them out and let me know how you get on. The drivers should be considered BETA as I am only able to test on one platform at the moment (Fedora 4)
Please post your success/failures here.

Have fun,
Paul

OK, I compiled them for IPCop on a development version with identical kernel config as my running firewall. I was able to remove and replace via sftp and do a depmod -a and load the new modules. I get the same unresolved symbols which I don't know if they matter or not because the drivers do work. Here's my results of depmod -e. I gzipped the modules before moving them since IPCop has them all gzipped so it's purely for neatness, the modules will work either way. BTW, there is no installdir for 2.4 so I placed them where I put them when I build a nozomi-ized version of the IPCop CD complete with device nodes. Haven't built one with the new modules yet. I am posting this while using the new drivers.
root@ipcop:~ # depmod -e

Hey Paul,
for me, the new version works out of the box like a charme. Wonderful. All problems I discovered in the past seem to be blown away, even uploading just works...:)
Dunno whether it's only the new nozomi version or the kernel update I ran a few days ago (now it's 2.6.16 with swsusp2- & gentoo-patches), but I don't care either...;)
The only important thing for me: Now UMTS _really_ works. Great!
Thanks for that!
Kind regards
-XoF-

Hi,
I have installed and tested the beta driver. On my Fedora Core 5 there are no problems with the driver. Everything works fine for me !
best regards
Chris

| Even with the errors it works fine here. Now with the new zero config 7.6mbs version of this card coming up, I'm wondering how that will work in Linux. They claim Mac OSX and Windows won't need drivers or an app to run but that could be another subject on another forum.

Y am trying to instal your nozomi_2.1 on Linux Ubuntu Dapper AMD64, but after have been brought myself in the directory nozomi, where are all the files unstuffed, Y gave the "make" command and this replay Y had: "make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.15-23-amd64-k8/build: Nessun file o directory. Stop.make: *** [default] Error 2".
Another question: may Y use a PCard for a telephon accounter on another different accounter?
thanks niky

Hi Niky,
Please make sure that you have the header files for the kernel installed. They will be supplied by Ubunto.
To answer you second question - no these cards do not make telephone calls - they are for data links only.

Hi,
the driver works without a problem in SuSE Linux 10.1.
It even survives suspend - resume cycles; the only thing worth mentioning is that lsmod doesn't report the module as being in use while in fact it is.
Great work!
Eddie.

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/pharsc2/public_html/includes/mambo.php on line 464
Any suggestions?
