Hello,
I'm using a Option Globetrotter 3G+ datacard (it's named 'Vodafone Mobile Connect HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE datacard') (Serial-Nr. starts with 'NZ'). I've trouble by connecting to the internet.
I have compiled nozomi driver & insmoded it. Also I've copied the nozomi.ko to /lib/modules/2.6.13-15default/kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug/
G-Com is compiled and installed. My Computer recognize the card and I can register to the network.
My problem is: When I want to connect to the internet by KPPP I get the following script:
AT+cfun=1
OK
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","a1.net"
OK
ATD*99***1#
ERROR
(I've copied the KPPP-Script from the KPPP-topic in this forum to my coputer and have modified it).
When I connect via KInternet I get the following error-script:
May 18 17:39:54 linux wvdial[7731]: WvDial: Internet dialer version 1.54.0
May 18 17:39:54 linux wvdial[7731]: Initializing modem.

What goes wrong here. Via KPPP I've linked /dev/noz2 to /dev/modem (ln -sf /dev/noz2 /dev/modem), via KInternet I've linked /dev/noz0 to /dev/modem. The number I dial is correct, also the APN and the username and password.
Many thanks

Thank you for your help, but it doesnt workreply
. I integrated your script in my /etc - directory and wrote in the console the 'sudo ...' - command. I get the reply: 'connect script failed'
You wrote something about dapper drake. Is this a program to connect to the internet or a linux-distrubition. I use Suse 10.0 and cannot change this.
Thank you for your help

Now it works
I've added the source like wrote in topic '2.6.15 and udev' into my /etc/wvdial.conf and tryed to connect to internet via kppp (configuration like topic 'KPPP').
Here my way to internet-connection:
1. Install kernel-source
2. Download nozomi and gcom
3. Extract nozomi and gcom
4. Compile nozomi with make
5. copy nozomi.ko to /leb/modules/2.6.13-15default/kernel/drivers/pci/hotplug
6. insmod nozomi.ko
7. depmod -a
8. Compiel gcom with 'make all'
9. Install gcom with 'make install'
10. type into console: 'gcom -d /dev/noz2 sig'
11. copy source of the 'KPPP'-topic into my kppprc-file and modify it
12. copy source of the '2.6.15 and udev'-topic into my wvdial.conf and modify it
13. modify KPPP-link in the menu (for use with root)
14. start KPPP and run connect
15. enter PIN and enjoy the internet
Many thanks to your help.
Best regard

hi..
i'm using ubuntu/linuxmint
how do i get Option Globetrotter GT 3G+ EMEA card working?
i've installed gcom..
then i run the command at terminal: gcom -d /dev/noz0...
which returns the result:
SIM ready
Waiting for Registration..(120 sec max)
Registered on Home network: "MY MAXIS",2
Signal Quality: 21,99
it seems i'm connected to the 3g...
but... how do i get ubuntu/linuxmint to connect through the 3g card?
or do i setup at the menu -> system -> network?
when i type the command gcom
or when i type the command gcom -d /dev/modem
Can't open GlobeTrotter /dev/modem.

Problem here is you can't actually dial ATD*99**1# over /dev/noz2.
You can only do that over /dev/noz0
