I'm relatively new to this - can someone point me in the right direction to get an Option 225 USB HSDPA modem working under ubuntu 8.04?
I've got as far as installing HSOconnect, but I think I need some drivers installed and not sure which ones to choose, or more importantly how to do it.
I couldn't find a "step by step" type guide anywhere, and whilst I understand some of the fundamentals of linux, I'm not an expert by a long stretch! |

Hi,
Yes you do need the drivers installed and a few utilities - greatly summarised:
1. Install the HSO driver - check the forum for details
(You need gcc, kernel headers, make installed)
2. Install rezero and my "eeePC" udev rule - see the forum for details
(You need the libc6 dev pack installed).
3. Plug in the device
4. After several seconds, use dmesg to confirm that the device is recognised and that the ttyHSx ports exist.
[If either of steps 1 or 2 fail it is usually because some complier tool/package has not been installed.]
When you have got that far... the next bit is very easy...
5. Install the hsolink deb
6. Install HSOconnect deb
Cheers,
