Here is the "fixed" update.
This version has removed the dependency on the hsolink package. You still need to install hsolink. It is required but the install will not fail now on systems that compile hsolinkcontrol manually.
I have now created Debian files for Python 2.4 and Python 2.5. I also include sample RPM files (tested on Fedora 9).
The Python 2.4 versions have corrected Gnome menu entries
b]MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THE RIGHT VERSION.[/b]
[If you accidentally install the wrong version you must first removed the package before trying to install the correct version].
Ubuntu 7.10 and 8.04 users need the Python 2.5 DEB version.
Edgy users will need the Python 2.4 version.
Suse 10.3 and Fedora 9 users need the Python 2.5 RPM
Users of the older 1.1.61 and 1.1.81 Debian packages will have to remove them first before installing this update. This is because of the name change.
If you have created profiles or GUI configurations you may want to back them up first.

Hello,
thanks for the great work. There are some small bugs:
- disable the Transfer Limit warning is not possible (preferences checkbox is disabled)
- it is not possible to delete a profile from program (only from terminal)
- English Profile is outdated (not same as default). Profile is not needed
I have done the german translation.
Greetings
micha

Thanks for the file, I will include it in the next update.
Yes; the English language entry was there because I don't speak any other language . yes it was out of date but the program will first load up .default and then the selected language so there will always be a complete set of strings even if not all are translated.
It is a puzzle about the Transfer Limit checkbox. It is not disabled on my system and I don't use any code to disable it. Something to investigate
Cheers,
Paul

Hello Paul, i am using HSO Connect with Icon225 on RHEL4 successfully and it works just great. it is with Orange France provider.
I am not a technician as a colleague of mine setup the configuration, but i can easily translate in french the HSO Connect user interface. The current translation has some mistake that i can fix.
Could you send me the files where i can type the translation if you are interested ?
I may have some other colleagues possibly doing this also in Italian, Spanish and German...
thanks
Franz

Hi Franz,
Thank you for the offer of tranlations.
The language file default reference is located at:
/usr/share/HSOconnect/languages/.default/text.cfg
The file is in English, please just copy the file and edit the English prompts.
If you then email the file to me or post it here in the forum I will create an update release for the languages.
We now have a German and part Polish translation but I would be very happy to receive French, Spanish, Italian or any other language.
Yes - my French is very bad I should have included an apology to all French speaking people!

Looks good in FC9 as long as it's run as root (py2.5 RPM). This is only a minor issue but at least I'm no longer freezing on disconnect.
| Code: | $ su
# python2.5 -m hsoc |

Thanks for the feedback - did you check the permissions for hsolinkcontrol and /dev/ttyHS1?
Cheers,
Paul

It works very well. A minor inconvenience is that the debug window always opens right on top of the main window, but that's not very important. The switching buttons work well, though it took me a while to discover that clicking the 2G button actually connects immediately (I kept clicking 2G and then connect, only to have it connect and diconnect immediatly )
The only thing i'd like is to have some sort of commandline option to autoconnect. Would that be very hard to implement? Or maybe reacting to SIGUSR1 -> connect 2g SIGUSR2 connect 3g and SIGUSR3 disconnect, or something like that. I think the disconnecting is already there? This would make it possible to use hsoconnect from scripts (I have a set of mail sending/fetching scripts for example).
I also have some problems with hibernating, but I think that's an hso driver problem, and I'll report those things in the hso section (need som time to exactly figure out what's going on though).
Keep up the good work !
Martijn

Moreover, both can work at the same time! |
Many thanks for the translation.
"interfaces" sounds very interesting - perhaps you can share your configuration and scripts? I would be much happier with a "standard" way of doing things and if I can integrate that in to HSOconnect or make HSOconnect co-operate with it then I am much happier.
Cheers,
Paul

hello Paul,
sorry for long time with no response.
By the way, my usage of ICON225 and HSO/HSOconnect is with RHEL5, and it work very well.
I don't know how to send you privately the french translation file, so i attached it to this post. I am going to play with it now to see if this is good.
All, any comments and suggestions are welcome
I am afraid that some translation wording in french may be to long for the menus and windows, so i hope your windows will auto adapt the new lenght of the wording.
let me know if i need to rework some translation to make them appearing shorter !
Thanks a lot
Franz
