EDIT:
Nevermind, it was a GlobalSurfer Icon 225 card.. said (topic) when I ran the diagnostic tool in windows, so that's why I figured it had to be a globetrotter hsdpa modem label thingy.. Anyhoo, installing HSO drivers and HSOConnect did the trick, 2mbit 3g running and I'm ready for summer =D
ignore whatever is beneath this line

Hi people.. I'm at a complete loss atm. My usb modem, having none of the FAQ serial numbers listed..
a model GI0225
with SNR: starting with DR .. Having no clue where to go next, I did a
lsusb, which gave me
Bus 003 Device 008: ID 0af0:6971 Option
so I figure it's vendor 0af0 and product 6971 .. but, having installed nozomi (and gotten nowhere) I'm still scratching my head..
running ubuntu hardy heron 8.04, lsmod gives me
| Code: |
:~/temp/usb_modeswitch-0.9.4beta2$ lsmod
Module Size Used by
nozomi 30504 0
option 11520 0
usbserial 35816 1 option
usb_storage 73664 1
libusual 19108 1 usb_storage
|
afaik I have installed rezero , since the zeroCD won't come up again.. but I still can't figure out how to make it work..
usb_modeswitch gives me this:
| Code: | sudo usb_modeswitch
[sudo] password:
* usb_modeswitch: tool for controlling "flip flop" mode USB devices
* Version 0.9.3 (C) Josua Dietze 2007
* Works with libusb 0.1.12 and probably other versions
Looking for target devices
No target device found
Looking for default devices
No default device found. Is it connected? Bye

... I did try to browse my ISP vendor support page.. their sollution? --> link to root of this forum
it's not imperative that I get this working today, but I'd like to have it working before summer
phu, thanks for reading.. hope anyone has time to reply, as I am at a total loss at what to do next |

I have the same Telenor USB-stick as you, and I was also directed to the forum index when searching for drivers ... I wouldn't have found the HSO-driver if it wasn't for your post
Anyway, I didn't get it to work What is your kernel version (run "uname -a"), what does dmesg show when you plug it in, what modules are loaded, and what new devices do you get in /dev ?
Maybe it's my stick that is broken ... should probably try to locate a windows computer I could test it in |
