|
|
Hello there,
i have been through all the howtos but i don't get a point.
My problem is i am using an USB adapter for cardbus cards as the notebook only has pmcia-express Elan digital systems provide a linux driver which i think has been integrated into main kernel tree, i had to comment some things out and it compiled cleanly. I had to copy them in the right modules directory, and then they are loaded when i plugin the u132.
The green light flashes once in 5 seconds so i assume it's ready for the card, i plug it in and it starts flashing red. The cards red and blue led flash both a the same time, so this may be correct to as i have not yet entered a PIN, so there is no connection.
I think the only problem left is symlinking the card with /dev/modem or whatever i would choose. After the card was inserted i got /dev/ttyUSB0 - 3, but they don't work when chosen f.ex. from kppp. So i don't know what to do. Maybe you have any hints?
Is there any firmware involved?
I'm using mandriva 2007, kernel 2.6.17.5, nozomi module would be available if needed and comgt also.
This is what i get plugging in the u132:
| Code: | Nov 5 21:53:05 Reschekneschd kernel: ohci_hcd 0000:00:03.0: wakeup
Nov 5 21:53:05 Reschekneschd kernel: usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2

Nov 5 21:53:05 Reschekneschd kernel: ftdi.1 USB FDTI=e27f5000 JTAG interface 0 now attached to ftdi0
Nov 5 21:53:05 Reschekneschd kernel: ftdi.2 interface 1 has I=83 O=04

Nov 5 21:53:05 Reschekneschd kernel: usbcore: registered new driver ftdi-elan

and this is what i get when plugging in the card (which is actually an e-plus notebook card 2, the same as an option GT, which is working as i have an howto at hands)
| Code: | Nov 5 21:54:11 Reschekneschd kernel: ftdi.2 requesting module 'u132_hcd'

Hi Florian,
If comgt is unable to talk to the card then I suggest you contact Elan digital for advice on how to debug the interface and any required settings.
I don't think card firmware should be important but it is alwys a good idea to use the latest offered by your network operator.
Cheers,
Paul |
