|
|
The next (0.4) release of COMGT will provide the following:
* default script location directory /etc/comgt
* default port search (/dev/ttyUSB2, /dev/noz2, /dev/modem)
* Environment variables for device, phone number, SIM pin
* Additional scripts including SMS support and diagnostics
* Monitor mode - to provide device status reporting
Let me have your suggestions

Paul...
In Hong Kong Vadafone now uses the USB based Huawei E220 modem to access its mobile broadband product (3.8mbps). Not sure if this also being distributed in the UK. Are there any plans to support this modem in your upcoming release. I will happily be a guinea pig so long as you tell me what to do - I am a very longtime Windows user who is just switching to Linux (Ubuntu 6.06).
Thanks, Bryan |

A GUI that's usable for my mother
No, that's what umtsmon is for
Sorry for the shameless plug...
OK, a little more serious:
comgt can do a lot, but I envision that most people will use if for diagnostics and for entering the PIN code, then start pppd and they are done.
Be very careful not to create another swiss army knife - if it clutters the interface, usability goes down.
Things like connection monitoring may be of less value to end-users, but SMS features are very interesting for scripting, so make sure they are usable by other apps like perl scripts!
Once I'm finished implementing "automatic pppd start" in umtsmon, I'd like to look at the SMS stuff - if you've finished by then, that would save me a lot of time |

COMGT is a scripting language interpreter specialised for serial interfaces with some built in scripts for Option's 3G cards. SMS is just another script |

Hi Paul,
if possible, it would be nice to get the following scripts :
1) Voice Call (I don't care if voice coding, (trau frames), is not handled at the moment)
2) CSD UDI calls
Cheers
