Not sure if this is the best place to post this - I'm sure the Mod can move it!
Surprised no-one has mentioned this, which arrived via e-mail from Option this week.

Option announces Linux Connection Management Software for MIDs
GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux brings Mobile Internet Devices closer
to market acceptance
Leuven, Belgium - June 5 2008 - Option, the wireless technology
company, announced its GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux - the
connection management software for Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs)
based on the Intel® Centrino® Atom(TM) processor technology. The
software is written for Moblin-based Linux operating systems, an OS
choice well-suited for MIDs.
GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux is expected to quickly become the
essential connectivity solution for the rapidly developing MID
market. It is a connection management software specifically developed
for MIDs, the new range of devices that enables users to access the
rich Internet in its entirety, virtually anytime, anywhere.
Laura Papero, Vice President Marketing at Option: "The addition of
this new Linux software significantly enhances Option's portfolio of
connectivity products and enables us to deliver solutions for all
major operating systems. In addition, it strengthens our customer
value proposition in a particularly exciting new market segment -
mobile internet devices."
"Today's Mobile Internet Devices are using a range of wireless
technologies - 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi, WiMAX - to deliver the best
Internet experience in pocketable devices," said Pankaj Kedia,
Director of Global Ecosystem Programs in Intel Corporation's Ultra
Mobility Group. "Intel® Centrino® Atom(TM) processor technology based
MIDs, combined with Option's GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux solution,
will make it easier for our customers to seamlessly switch across
wireless technologies and deliver a compelling user experience."
Establishing the Linux market standard
Option's new GlobeTrotter Connect software for Linux is based on
Moblin, which is focused on encouraging the open source community to
develop new Linux-based technologies such as browsers, media players
and Internet connection managers for MIDs. Linux is the operating
system of choice for MIDs because of its small footprint, fast
responsiveness, ease of customization, and low cost.
Supporting all mobile connections
GlobeTrotter Connect for Linux will support 3G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and,
later, WiMax technologies. Option is currently partnering with system
manufacturers to demonstrate the capability of its software, and
anticipates commercial availability of the solution in the second
half of 2008. With the introduction of GlobeTrotter Connect for
Linux, Option broadens its suite of software products to cover all
major operating systems. Other Option software connectivity products
include: GlobeTrotter Connect, GlobeTrotter Connect for Mac,
GlobeTrottter Mobility Manager and GlobeTrotter Unlimited Connection.
