OK, determined to get my laptop working with unlocked devices, so re-visiting various aspects. Got my T-Mobile E220 dongle unlocked, so now that's one easier option for working abroad. However, still haven't got my new Icon (unlocked from Option) working with the HSO thingy (my lack of Linux expertise, I'm sure).
So tried my old Option datacard (Fusion+). Turns out it never was locked, so now I can get it working using either a T-Mobile SIM, or my new Orange SIM - using Windows. However, even after flashing with the latest Option firmware, I still have the problem that drove me away from it in the first place: I can get it connected using Mandriva 2008.0, and I can ping other sites, but as soon as I enter a URL the whole laptop freezes - only power-off can get me out of it. If it's relevant, it's a Fujitsu Amilo A1645.
Am I stuck with this problem?
