Could someone explain me what does it mean "7.2 ready"?. When my network will surf at that speed, my data card will automatically adapted at 7.2 Mb/sec or I will upgrade it?.
Thanks for reply.

| Probably you'll need to upgrade the firmware in the card (reflash it). Your operator will usually provide the upgrade, but you'll most probably need to use MS Windows to do the reflash. |

Hi,
The datacard has the hardware to operate at 7.2 Mbps. When your network operator announces it has support for 7.2 Mbps please contact them for a firmware update.
Cheers,

Well we just got the 7.2 upgrade firmware for Telstra here in Oz.
Data rates do go up.
www.speedtest.net test went from 1.1 Mbps to 2.2 Mbps.
or to put it another way I get a 25-30% sustained throughput of a 7 Mbps link according to Windows task manager.
One downside with the firmware we got here (2.4.2Hd) is that it removes the serial USB modem support that Linux used. (GRRRRR....)
It also is a bit unstable at the moment - several people here have reported (including myself) card lockups where the card goes into a superfast purple flash mode and needs to be powered down before it will work again.[/img] |
